First Race of Cross Ciuntry '09

Ok so I had my first race of the season Saturday and I was nervous . I injured my knee a while back (two weeks on Wednesday) and I still hadn't fully recovered yet. But I said a prayer and I was able to finish the race with only a slight pain in my knee. After the race the pain came back hard and it was hard to walk for a while.

I ended up getting a 24:07, a five minute improvement from last season.

Driver's Permit

Today I finnaly got my Driver's Permit. I went in yesterday, but failed the test by one question. Today I went back in and passed. So now I can legally drive with a parent in the front seat. My mom let me drive in the neighboorhod on the way home. So i drove the final stretch and a right turn. I did the straightway ok, but when i got to the turn I didn't turn fast enough so I hit the curb. I had to park the car and switch place with my mom because i have no idea how to back up.

First Track Meet

So this year i decided to do track. You know might as well. I was conviced by a wide group of people. We have been training for the past three weeks. (I decided to do distance since I do Cross Country.) Today was a race for pretty much JV in Apache Junction. Me and my freshman friends Brian and Zach decided to compete in the 1600 and the 800 meter. (Also known as the mile and half mile, four laps around the track and two laps around the track. The 1600 meter was first and our Coach told us to start with a 1:58 lap and take off two seconds every lap and we should finish around 7:00-7:30 mile. I was like are you kidding me my best mile in PE lately was somewhere in the eight minute interval. But I did and got a presonal record finishing the 1600 meter in 7:12 and I actually enjoyed the race. The 800 meter was a lot harder, but i finished in around 3:12. So I had a pretty good time.

New Calling

Today while preparing for the sacrament I went and got sacrament cups from the clerks office. I ran into the Bishopric and the second counselor asked to talk to me. We went inside the clerks office. He said that my name had been submitted by our new president to be his First Counselor in the Rittehouse Ward, Queen Creek North Stake. There is about twelve teachers now so it should be fun.

This has been my first calling since moving here to Queen Creek. Previously I served as Teachers Quorum Secretary and as a Deacon President and Secretary. This is my first time as a Counselor so it should be fun.

Finally I finished my first semest of ninth grade. I thought I did pretty good. My grade on my finals are as follows.

Information Technology Fundamentals-86.7%

PE-100%

Honors Biology-71% (for resons see the post I made earlier about this class. This is a really hard class)

Seminary-A (there is no final but that is my final grade!)

English 9-82%

Honors Geometry-94%

Now here are the following grades: This puts my GPA at a 4.4

PHOENIX SUNS GAME

Sorry i haven't posted lately. I have just been busy with school work and what not. But i fiqure i would write about yesterday.

About a week ago i was invited to the Suns game for my best friend's birthday. Of course i accepted and was excited for the match up. Phoenix Suns verus the Utah Jazz. I figured we (SUNS) would lose because the Suns weren't doing the greatest by still you don't want to miss a game if you are invited!

We had really good seats for the game. My friend that invited me and my other friend and I were in the seventh row! We were right behind the Jazz bench and we saw the Suns warm up. During points of the game would could physically here Dragic (back up for Nash) call out plays. We could see Sloan mouth swear words from where we were seating. I could throw something easily at the back of injured Boozer's head. That is how closs we were!

It turned out to be a really good game. Shaq did good for once and had a lot of cool jams. So did Stoudemire. Nash and Barbosa had a good game. My favorite player Raja Bell was off but you can't have everything about the game good.

It was tied at the end of the first, end at the half and end at the third. We pulled ahead at the end and we almost left to soon. We thought we were comfortably up by six with 20 seconds left. We got in the car and found out we were up by four with the Jazz having the ball. Luckily they missed a couple shots and ended up winning by six it was a really good game.

The good old "I have some good news, and some bad news." is a common phrase in many multimedia productions. Normally the good news is first and the bad second. I don't why, I guess the good news everbody wants to hear first.

So the good news is that I am no longer busy with atheltics everyday and have no time for anyting else.

The bad news is the reason why I am no longer busy with athletics. Today I got cut from the basketball team. Which means I didn't make it for the third year straight. But I have gotten signficantly better ever year. But now I would be trying out for Varistity and JV which are two teams that are hard to make for basketball.

I might do track during the spring season but I am not sure yet.

The End of a Season

Thats right Cross Country season ended Wednesday for JV so i am done with sports, for now. We had a Gilbert City meet so we went up against a lot of people i knew.

Funny story though. The top runner on the girls team Ashley Workman was in the bathroom a couple minutes before the race. Then the gun went off and she was still in the bathroom. After washing her hands she realized that the race had started and she was 30 seconds behind. She ran after the last place runner quickly passing her. By the end of the race she had got up to the top runner and won the Junior Girls Race. The team hosting the race apolygized and took a couple seconds off her time. Talk about dedication. I did okay and i finished with a 29 minute 3 miler.

Next is basketball season. The informational meeting is tommorow and tryouts are the first week of November. Hopefully i will have better luck then the last two years

Mr. Chicci's Class

I decided I needed a new post so I am going to talk about my Honors Biology Class. Mr. Chicci (the teacher) has a hard core class and probably the hardest honnors class as a freshman. As a bit of backround info he has two honors classes with about 30 students in second hour and fifteen in my class. Our class actually started with about twenty when I entered the class and as diwndled down to fifteen and i am expecting a couple more to drop out everyday. His class so far is pretty basic. Spend three to four days going over the chapter, doing worksheets for homework and a test on Friday. Also there are various labs on Thursdays and the write-ups due Monday. We also have an outline worksheet to fill out about the chapter and two 3-pargraph esays on a certain topic due on Friday.

He has given us two projects. One of the projects was for first quarter which was to create a 3D version of a specific cell.

My next project that is due in May is much harder. The final product is a trifold and abot a 30 page paper. We are to choose some type of organism (bear, organtan, sea weed, bacteria etc.) and we will be doing about five papers between 6 and 5 pages long, (which adds up and complied into the 30 page paper) about how the organism releates to everything we learn about in his class. Including various cells, cancers and other many things we learn about in a year in his class. The first step is to over the break decided on an organism becausae nobody can do the same organism. Sounds like fun!!!

He is also giving us an extremely hard extra credit assignment that i am thinking about doing later in the year. We have to make a hexahybrid punnett square which show all the possibilties between 6 traits and two parents which is around 1000 possiblities.

Operation: On Traget

Today after running about five miles i did a scout activity. We met at the Church at 7:00 to go to the San Tan Mountains to do a scout activity called Operation on Target. What we do is teams from across the west go to high peaks in various mountains and single others using a large mirror on a tripod. Our peak that we went too required going on a five mile hike. It was okay. We signaled one other team about 200 yards away. We also went to these grave sites from a couple miners that lived there.

Running at the Park

Cross Country meet number three was at a local park called Desert Mountain Park, about five minutes away. There was 3 teams at the meet. The course can be described as a sandy, grassy course with a lot of turns and it seemed longer then 3 miles. I got a time around 30 mintues and i got 31st out of 32 JV Boys. I thought i did pretty good expect it was blistering hot.

Running on the Golf Course

My second meet was in Scottsdale yesterday about forty minutes from where I live. The race was two loops on the Silverado Golf Club Course. There was 637 racers that finished from about 27 schools. Our school got 11th for boys and 17th for girls. Our top boy finisher got 1st place and our top girl got 6th place. I ended up getting 166th place out of the 175 boys in the JV Race. My time was 28:51:5 for a 5 k or 3.1 miles race.

First Cross Country Meet

My first cross country meet was yesterday. It was the first-ever Sole Sporst Freshman Only Invational. It was held at Desert Vistia High School. I got up at 4:45 in the morning to meet the bus at my high school. From their all of the freshman travelled to t the school. We got there around 6:30. They gave us identifaction tags. These tags would register a time when we ran by the finish line.

The boys race was at 7:00. It was only a 2-mile race, 1 less mille than the races with the rest of the grades. I ran hard, but i missed a few turns and had to turn back. This added time to final time. I finished the race in 33rd place. My time was 19:00 minutes. There was six schools there.

Then at 7:30 the girls raced. The freshman from our school did a recovery run. For the most part we ran to various points on the course and cheered on our team.

Around 8 they did the awards ceremony. First the awarded medals to places 6-33. Then gave trophys to the top five. On our freshman team there is five of us. We got 20th,24th, 26th,32nd, and 33rd. Then they award team awards. The first few awards were for the best two three teams. This means they take the places of the top three runners on your team added the places and tey lowest score wins. Next they did they best three five-man teams which is the traditional way of scroing cross country. (take the top five runners from each school and add them up)To our suprise we took third. They repeated this process for the girls and they got runner-up for best three-man team (that is everybody for freshman girls.) They got a trophy.

After the race we had breakfast with the rest of the team who had just got back from the Saturday run.

So for my first site it is kind of like an encyclopedia about my book I am writing that I am trying to finish by Christmas. It is going to be filled with information about the Characters, Settings and other info about the Warriors of Light Series which starts off with the Sixth Piece. First Day -Labor Day Weekend

After finishing my first clue last night, I went to bed because I have Cross Country today. We were suppose to go to the Usery Mountains which is about a half hour away. But only ten of us showed up so we did an hour run in Queen Creek. There was four freshman there so we ran together. When i was done dad was still asleep so i got a ride. When i got home i found out all the doors were locked and everybody was asleep. So i waited for Kierstyn to open the door. Maybe i will get another clue by the end of today.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend is suppose to be three days of fun and relaxation. Instead i have some major projects for schools to work on. For science i have to do two lab write ups that takes like an hour to do each. Plus i need to work on my project that is due two weeks from today. We have to make a three-dimensional cell. I also have about twenty math problems.

Oh yeah, i have cross country Saturday and Monday.

As a bright side, i have Dad's treasure hunt to do. I plan to break the record for fastest time on finishing it.

School

Well i have been in school for the last four weeks and it has been different being in High school.

First Hour I have a class called Information Technology Fundamentals. The teacher is Ms. Reed. The only thing we have done in that class is practicing voice recognition and doing FBLA, which is a required club for this class. It is a prequistite to a web page development and a computer programing class i want to do.

Second hour I have Combined Boys and Girls PE for Coach Mooney. The last three weeks we have been doing the unit on basketball.

Third Hour is Honors Biology and it has been so far it is the hardest class i have ever done. The teacher is Mr. Chicci and we have done four tests, covered 2 and 1/2 chapters and 4 labs. We also have a major project on the cell coming up.

Fourth Hour i have seminary an we have just begun the first few chapters of each of the Four Gospels. My teacher is Brother Blamieres. Each day we talk about topics that are foucused on in each chapter. We have talked about disciples, avoiding temptation, and the birth of Christ and John the Baptist and other topics.

After Seminary i have lunch. I usually eat with McKay and Zach.

English with Mrs. Eilersten is after lunch. Her class has been pretty easy and i have goten A's on everything except for vocab.

Finally i have Honors Geometry with Mr. Clare and so far his class has been pretty easy. We have done about a chapter and a couples sections so about 9 diferent topics discussed all about the basics of Geometry.

My Birthday

Well it was my birthday, yesterday, and it was eventful. I got up at 4:30 for cross country (yes, we have practice on Saturdays) After Cross Country i went straight to a scouting activity at 7:30. We went to the shooting range to shoot.

After that i went home and got cleaned up. I then opened my presents. I got a bag of dark chococlate. I also got an iPod Classic (holds 80 GB) and a 25 dollar gift card for iTunes. I then got 25 dollars bewteen the grandparents and went and bought and iPod case for my iPod.

After i went to the store with dad. Latter i went and saw Clone Wars with Dad and Chaz. I ended my day cleaning the office and started my sacrament talk for tommorow.

That is a pretty basic schedule expect for mutual for Wednesdays

P.S. dad told me to add that he is my transportation and gets me up for cross country

I have a lot of Homework between two honors classes (Honors Geomentry and Honors Lab Biology) and English i am pretty busy when it comes to school.
